Daniele Pisanello is an independent legal expert in food regulation. Daniele is admitted to the Italian Bar since 2006 and is a regular speaker at conferences and training programmes for staffs performing official controls on food, in Italy and beyond.

His legal practice focuses mainly on product regulations on the Single Market with special regards to marketing standards in the field of agricultural products and foodstuffs, conformity assessment of safety requirements, hygiene rules, food labelling and information for consumer, free movement, geographical indications, sanctions and penalties, responsibilities and product related liabilities.

He is the Executive Director of the EFFL Summer Academy on Global Food Law & Policy (http://www.lexxion.eu/conferences/effl-academy). From 2005 to 2007 he was charged with the scientific planning and implementation of the Master in Food Law established by the University of Turin – Faculty of Law. Daniele also lectured extensively at this Master. He regularly writes on Food Law issues for both legal journals and magazines in Italian and English. He is trainer at EIPA (European Institute of Public Administration) in the field of EU Food Law and Official Controls.

Daniele graduated in Law at the University of Pisa (summa cum laude, 2001) and holds a Master’s degree in “Valorisation and Control of High Quality Foodstuffs” from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa (2003).

After a traineeship on Legal Risk Management, Daniele worked in a Milan-based Law Firm dealing with product-safety requirements and Intellectual Property for clients operating in the Single Market (2003 to 2004). He then became Manager assistant at ASS.I.CA. (Italian Association of Meat Producers, Milan), where he was actively involved in lobbying and managing regulatory framework for meat products. In July 2005 he joined Bin Avvocati Associati (Turin and Milan Offices), led by Professor Marino Bin. He left Turin to embark on a European legal experience. He worked for FratiniVergano-European Lawyers, in Bruxelles, where he dealt with international trade and European Law with special regard to trade in food.

In October 2008 he established his independent Food Law Office (Lex Alimentaria Law Office) providing consulting, training activities and legal assistance to Food Business Operators, associations and public administrations operating in Italy and beyond.

Italy switches vitamins’ daily intakes for supplements
New maximum levels of vitamins for food supplements on the Italian market have recently been set by the Ministry of Health. New maximum amounts of daily intakes of vitamins and minerals for foodstuffs mark important amendments: new daily amounts for  Vitamin C, B1, B2, and B6 are quite doubled in respect of previous levels and higher levels are provided for B12 and Pantothenic Acid contents.
